How Zerene Helps Manage Teeth Clenching & Grinding

Zerene helps reduce teeth clenching & grinding in three simple steps:

  1. Study Mode

  2. Training Mode

  3. Maintenance Mode

Zerene in Use

Study Mode

In Study Mode Zerene is focused on learning as much as possible about you. You’ll wear your Zerene when you sleep and get used to feeling it in your mouth. At the same time, study mode will monitor your teeth clenching/grinding activities as you sleep and keep track of them. At the end of the study mode period (3 – 5 days in most cases), we’ll analyze your data to determine:

  • Whether or not you’ve actually been clenching or grinding your teeth in your sleep (for some people the answer is no!)
  • If you *are*, to what degree – for example are you doing lots of tiny bites? Fewer bites that are extremely hard? Clenching for long periods?
  • …and more! We use a variety of proprietary metrics to make the best, most customized analysis for each user, so the “and more!” part may vary from case to case

Once you complete Study Mode your coach will give you the green light to enter the very exciting TRAINING MODE!

Training Mode

In Training Mode Zerene will apply a biofeedback vibration as you sleep to gently raise your awareness of when you are clenching or grinding your teeth. Your Zerene Coach will monitor your progress and use data to craft a program that will yield the best results.

  • The gentle biofeedback vibration will activate when you clench/grind your teeth. 
  • When you stop clenching/grinding, the vibration will stop as well. 
  • Zerene will continue to monitor your clenching and grinding activity and record it daily. 
  • Through the data Zerene will determine whether the biofeedback is having the intended effect. If it is, GREAT! You’ll stay the course till we reduce your clenching and grinding activity as much as possible. If it isn’t we will use the data to adjust the biofeedback to better suit your needs. 

At every step we always consider the data, your experience and lifestyle, and our overall goals in order to achieve the best result. 

Once we are satisfied that we’ve achieved the result that meets your goals your coach will give you the green light to enter MAINTENANCE MODE!

Maintenance Mode

Although this mode does not have a sexy name it truly represents the ZERENE state to which we want every user to arrive! In maintenance mode you’ll use your Zerene at regular intervals, which will be determined by you and your coach, to maintain the results you achieved in TRAINING MODE. 

  • For some people that means wearing Zerene to bed once every few weeks or months 
  • Others may need or want to do it more frequently. 
  • If needed you’ll re-enter TRAINING MODE for a few sleeps to keep your teeth grinding and clenching in check
  • Your Zerene is always available to use as you desire in case you notice symptoms returning due to lifestyle triggers
